Gruhe Architects

Situated within the heart of Moratuwa, a large suburb of Colombo, this wedge shaped plot was surrounded by existing dwellings in an existing residential area. The deceptively deep plan layout was developed to create an open plan Living / Dining off which was located a feature staircase within a central courtyard. This courtyard was created to bring in natural light and ventilation into the upper floor containing 3 of the 4-bedroom suites. A roof top was located high enough to view the surrounding area including glimpses of a large lagoon. Contemporary, yet natural materials and a simple colour palette further complimented the concept.
