Eco Resort, Puttalam

The generic brief was for an Eco Resort on an approximately 6 acre portion of picturesque headland with water frontage on either side. Work began informally with strategic discussions regarding the concept and general sustainability ethos. First, a detailed catalogue of spaces with space requirements/sizes was drafted. A macro site analysis utilising local data and statistics was then followed by a process of micro site analysis. Individual studies exploring existing and potential access, existing vegetation, existing fabric, potential site expansion, views, wind impact, and sun path resulted in opportunity and constraint diagrams which then enabled the drafting of a Zoning layout. This then went on to create a Site Layout. Unfortunately plans are now stalled owing to national plans for the wider area which could affect the environment in and around the site.
